Minimum age to buy a gun in Colorado will increase to 21 in August

DENVER (KDVR) -- Starting Aug. 7, people who are under the age of 21 will not be able to buy any firearms in the state of Colorado.Federal law already restricts anyone under 21 from buying handguns, but the new law restricts the purchase of any firearm in Colorado to people who are 21 or over.Colorado's 21-and-up gun lawThe law makes purchasing a gun when you're under 21 years old punishable by up to one year in jail or a $1,000 fine. Anyone who sells or transfers a firearm to someone under 21 could be punished with up to 18 months in jail or a $5,000 fine.There are some exceptions to the law. More specifically, there are three groups of people to whom the new law does not apply. DENVER (KDVR) -- Colorado's "Great Resignation" is over, just like the rest of the U.S. It wasn't long ago that Colorado was at the top of the nation for the rate of people leaving their jobs. Americans left their jobs in record numbers in 2021 and 2022 in a pandemic-era trend dubbed the "Great Resignation.” Wages climbed, particularly in low-paying industries, as employers struggled to attract and retain workers. Renters will have a few extra rights starting in August Labor management firm TimeForge analyzed U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data in each state to find job resignation rates, or quit rates, to keep an eye on the trend and found that Colorado had the sixth-highest quit rate among U.S. states in May 2023. At least three people were transported to Broward Health Medical Center following a wrong-way crash in Oakland Park. Officials said the collision, which occurred on the southbound lanes of Interstate 95, happened just before 3 a.m. Wednesday. “This operation is via [Florida Highway Patrol] in reference to a vehicle going the wrong way, and is a head-on collision with another vehicle,” said a dispatcher on Broadcastify police scanner. Video footage of the scene showed two cars with heavy front-end damage. Approximately an hour later, tow trucks were on the scene to clear the wreckage of the vehicles.
