ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A man convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend in St. Louis County nearly three years ago was sentenced to two life terms in prison. A judge sentenced Darius Ware, 30, on Friday to two life terms plus 10 years in the 2020 murder of his ex-girlfriend Lawren Mitchell. $400,000 in watches stolen in St. Louis jewelry heist Investigators say Ware shot Mitchell in the neck and killed her during an argument in the 5200 block of Lucas and Hunt Road. Denver school board should set district-wide policy on armed police on campuses, says latest DPS safety plan draft

Denver’s school board should decide whether to station armed police in the city’s comprehensive high schools and other qualifying campuses, according to a new recommendation by Superintendent Alex Marrero, which is a change from his earlier plan that would have left such decisions up to individual schools.The recommendation was released Friday as part of a revised version of Denver Public School’s safety plan, which the Board of Education directed Marrero to create after a student shot two administrators inside East High School in March. The superintendent is expected to release his final draft on June 23. Nine people have been arrested and are accused of running a “sophisticated” stolen car ring in Ventura County, officials announced Friday.Additionally, authorities seized 28 suspected stolen vehicle, more than $130,000 in cash, four handguns, a rifle and high-capacity magazines.Since last November, 16 Dodge Hellcat high-performance vehicles had been stolen in Ventura County, each worth more than $90,000, according to sheriff’s officials.Ten of the 16 stolen vehicles were recovered and detectives are working to recover the remaining six.During the investigation, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office detectives discovered that law enforcement agencies in San Bernardino County were also seeing stolen vehicles in their jurisdiction that followed a similar MO, and a person they believed was facilitating the stolen vehicles was also connected to the incidents in their region.On Wednesday, investigators from specialized local units, along with those from the Los Angeles Police Department served ...

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- The owner and operator of several Subways who allegedly issued employees $265K in bad checks and violated child labor laws has been slapped with a preliminary federal court injunction. The injunction forbids John Michael Meza from violating child labor laws, threatening and retaliating against workers and obstructing a federal investigation, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Labor. Old Navy closing down SF Market Street location Meza owns and operates 14 Subway franchise locations around the Bay Area. The injunction comes in the midst of allegations made by investigators with the DOL Wage and Hour Division. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Five people were arrested for their involvement in an aggravated assault with a firearm incident, and numerous guns were seized, according to the San Francisco Police Department on Twitter.
