ATLANTA (AP) — DJ Stewart, Rafael Ortega and Francisco Lindor homered as the New York Mets won for the seventh time in nine games, beating the first-place Braves 10-4 on Monday night despite two homers by Atlanta’s Marcell Ozuna.Going ahead to stay with a four-run fifth inning, the Mets bounced back from an embarrassing series at Citi Field just over a week ago. ELBERT COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — A Colorado family is searching far and wide for their missing pet, a water buffalo.In the Elbert County farm town of Agate, where cows graze and raise their young, a special part of the Perrys' four-legged family is now missing.“Moochi, and we call her Mooch for short,” owner Laura Perry said. “She's similar to a cow, a little bit longer nose, almost like a little hippopotamus bootie, and she's buff color."'Such a sweet girl'At 14 months old, missing Moochi is about 900 pounds. Perry said she usually spends her days watching the little calves she lives with.“She will lay with the baby. DENVER (KDVR) — Denver Public Schools students are back in class, but getting to school has become a serious problem for some families.DPS said they had to cut some bus services to align with the Board of Education’s Healthy Start Times resolution, prompting transportation cuts for six of the district's 204 schools. But at Camp Erin Denver, it’s the grown-ups and volunteers who are anxious.They have a big responsibility: helping grieving kids cope with a death loss in childhood. Kids navigate difficult path with the help of ‘grief hikes’ Over the weekend, Camp Erin Denver held its 10th annual grief camp at Shwayder Camp near Idaho Springs.“That puts us at serving over 500 campers and their families over the past 10 years,” volunteer director Sara Chadil told FOX31.Campers spend 48 hours in the Colorado mountains, connecting with nature and taking part in grief management exercises and activities.“Trying to heal from it,” Scarlett, 7, told FOX31. Police investigate death near Washington Park

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver Police are investigating a death near Washington Park.Around 10 a.m. Monday, the Denver Police Department tweeted about an outdoor death investigation taking place in the 600 block of South Downing Street. The area is on the northwest side of Wash Park, by Smith Lake on one side of the street and residential buildings on the other side.FOX31 cameras were at the scene. Multiple DPD patrol cars were parked in front of homes on the other side of the park. Police investigating death at Cheesman Park The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will provide the cause of death and identify the person.As of Monday, Denver Police had not said whether the death was criminal in nature but said they would provide an update when more information became available.This is the second outdoor death investigation in Denver on Monday, and both were near popular parks. Dozens of Pembroke Pines residents weighed in during a town hall meeting, worried about perceived plans for a new garbage incinerator in Broward County, despite there being no plans in place yet to build one.City officials and county officials said there is a big issue of garbage in the county, in which millions of pounds of trash are sent to landfills. A questions and answer session occasionally turned heated as Pembroke Pines residents wanted to know if a garbage incinerator is coming to their city, specifically near US 27 and Sheridan Street. “When I got the notice for this my reaction was ‘What incinerator project?'” said Assistant County Administrator Kevin Kelleher. DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest for international travel, announced Tuesday it served 41.6 million passengers in the first half of this year — exceeding figures for the same period in 2019 as travelers return to the air after the lockdowns of the coronavirus pandemic. The airport, home to the long-haul carrier Emirates in skyscraper-studded Dubai, long has served as a barometer for the aviation industry worldwide. HONG KONG (AP) — A jailed university student in Hong Kong lost his bid to reduce his five-year sentence for inciting secession in a landmark ruling by the city’s top court Tuesday that will have a far-reaching impact on other cases brought under a Beijing-imposed national security law. Lui Sai-yu pleaded guilty to breaching the sweeping security law in April 2022 and admitted that content on a Telegram channel he administered incited others to separate Hong Kong from China or alter the legal status of the city unlawfully. But his timely guilty plea did not get him a one-third reduction in the length of his imprisonment — like in many other cases under the city’s common law system — because the security law imposed minimum jail terms for serious offences. Lui is one of the some 260 people who were arrested under the security law as Beijing tried to crush dissidents following the massive protests in 2019.
